Grüezi mitenand!
That means hello in Swiss german, which is the language of the town I'm spending the week in, Gstaad.
I decided I needed to get out of Paris a bit and visit some friends here, city life was getting redundant (hehe)
This is perhaps one of the most beautiful places on Earth- it is so untouched, and the lush mountains have been preserved in their natural state.
I have never breathed in air that feels so fresh, and the scenery looks like it was painted out of a storybook.
I have been spending my days going on long hikes in the mountains, going to an amazing spa and getting massages, eating incredible food, and spending time with my friends.
The Swiss are very interesting people, and they hold strongly to their traditions. For example, last week was Yodelfest, where there was a huge parade with thousands of people coming to Gstaad to hear the yodelers!
Then, for the summer, the farmers all walk their cows (which are treated with the utmost respect here) all the way up the mountains and the farmers live up there all summer long without electricity, with the cows- crazy!
So, that's a little slice of life in Switzerland.

Le tour effiel!
Je sais que je n'ai ecrivez pas pour long temps, mais c'est difficile quand je suis trop occupée dans cette belle ville!
translation: I know that I have not written in a long time, but it's difficult when I'm so busy in this beautiful city!
Today was a gorgeous day and I walked up the Tour Eiffel, 640 stairs to the 2nd floor avec un ami...it was truly amazing! I am so in awe of this monument, every time I see it I have to gasp, just because it is so striking. Although the color, I think, would be much better if it were pink instead of a steel/blah color. It is so friendly and welcoming, it says "Hello there!" to everyone beneath it :0)
To anyone who is actually reading this blog, you MUST come to Paris and climb the Eiffel tower. Because it is really that amazing! hehe...
So, in the past week I have seen tons of the Paris sights including beaucoup de musées et monuments, as well as taken a daily contemporary dance class with a women who danced with Pina Bausch. Her class was very intense, 2 hours of nonstop moving in a "release" sort of way and her class really concentrated on using your breath to fuel the movement.
Ok well I must finally get some rest, je pense.

2 days in Paris...incroyable@
I am writing this post as I sit under a beautiful cherry tree in the garden/backyard of the house I'm staying at...somehow it is still completely light out at 9:30pm- very strange, it feels like it could be 3 O'clock!
I have had very full days of wandering around Paris and exploring the city...Today I met up with a Parisan friend and dancer who showed me the "real" Montmarte, versus the tourist version, and the Sacre Cour. C'est tres beau!
The atmosphere here is very different than what i am used to in NYC. Here it is more sweet and light as apposed to the more driven and "get out of my way"ness that prevails back home. C'est interessant.
Some things are important to know here:
1. to get to the 2nd floor, you have to go up 3 flights of stairs (hehe, I know this but forgot and ened up at a music recording studio instead of a dance school)
2. Doors to the metro do not open unless you open them yourself (very strange!)
3. Most people speak a little English at least
4. People are actually very nice and helpful!!at least so far, this has been my experience
5. What you are wearing is not as important as I thought it was, it's kind of like NYC, people just dress how they want.
Well, that is all I have to say. Je suis contente. Et demain, je vais aller au cours de danse :0)

Paris in 2 days!
Bonjour and welcome to La bêtise courante, which translates to "The latest silly thing". Dans ce blog, I will give accounts of my crazy adventures and also of my crazy little Dutch friend who is helping me and motivating me to write this funny story.
SO...I am here in cold and rainy NYC for just 2 more jours. Then I am jetting off to Paris where I will frolic with the Eiffel Tower!
My biggest concern right now is SHOES. I need mes pieds to be happy and comfy but I also need to be trés chic et magnifique. I have heard that you are not allowed to be seen in Paris unless you look like a supermodel. This is not a problem for me except for the shoes issue. You see, my comfort is more importante for moi than le chic-ness....so I am pondering this issue with great thought.
On another note, I am busy searching raw vegetarian resaurants in Paris to see if they actually exist. If so, ce incroyable!
Bien, it is time for Court-Court to get her beauty sleep.
